Statement in Response to Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner Named Chair of Climate Mayors - Attributable to Bob Harvey, President and CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership:
We are pleased that Mayor Turner has taken on this important leadership role among his peers to help address climate change. Houston is committed to leading the global energy transition to a low-carbon future, and having Mayor Turner at the helm of this group is yet another way we are advancing that effort.
Climate Mayors is a bipartisan network of more than 470 U.S. mayors determined to generate meaningful action in their communities around this critical issue. There is scientific consensus today that climate change represents one of the biggest threats to the future of civilization and we must work to address it at the international, federal and local level. Our actions every day in municipalities around the world matter because change starts at the local level.
